Two sites have enquired to the possibility of having boats on Pitchup as an “atypical” rental product.
My suggestion is two-fold: 1. Enquire as to the feasibility of allowing rentable boats on Pitchup as a listing. 2. Modifying the portal Pitch type categories to allow for boats, not just moorings.

Camping de la Rivière - Offers small boats that are fixed in place and operate in the same way that a lodge or mobil-home would, just on water.

Why Not - Offers a more conventional boating experience. Moored in place overnight but free to move, sail around during the day.

Currently the Portal allows for Marina berths, mooring. But this is not the same as actually renting the boat itself for the night. It implies bringing your own boat to the site.

This could be an interesting product available on Pitchup with customers able to have an alternative holiday that can be very photogenic and good for the fast-paced social media dominated landscape.

While this is not a time-sensitive issue, incorporating these features could generate interest from a new type of site owner that operates primarily in the high season and across warmer, coastal areas.

This could be relevant to both site owners and customers to Pitchup. Allowing the company to branch out into an alternative form of accommodation, while still maintaining the key principles that are essential to the company ethos. It could be interesting in both the UK domestic market and the wider international market.

While this is as of yet a small endeavour (2 sites) there are undoubtedly many sites on the Mediterranean coasts that would be interested in this suggestion. In the ever more competitive landscape, sites could be keen to find a niche way in which to gain commercial traction.
